Don't just see the world, change it!!

Volunteers Needed:

Workers Needed:

We are looking for volunteers to help build a workshop for the children of the orphanage. We will do our best to create a casual fun environment while doing basic manual labor on jobs such as laying the concrete floor, plastering the brick walls, painting the walls, moving furniture etc. Volunteer times are flexible but most useful in the afternoons. Group transportation can be arranged.

Tutors Needed:

If the idea of manual labor does not excite you but you still want to participate, you are more than welcome to join us in the afternoons where you can be useful helping the kids with their homework or even just playing with them and showing them that there are people who care about them. No qualifications for tutoring are necessary except for decent understanding of Spanish.

About This Project

Azul Wasi is a small orphanage for at risk children located just outside of the beautiful city of Cuzco. The orphanage is run by Alcides Jordan, a retired policeman, and currently houses, feeds, educates and loves about a dozen boys and one small girl. Goodwill Globetrotting has temporarily adopted Azul Wasi as our new project and our primary objective is to build a workshop for the kids in which they can both occupy their time productively and learn mechanical skills that may help them get jobs when they are old enough to leave the orphanage. In addition to the workshop, our goal is to buy each of the kids a new pair of quality shoes and matching "Azul Wasi" t-shirts so to encourage unity and pride among themselves and to help them feel more like a team when playing soccer together against other groups.

Why This Project

Azul Wasi Orphanage is not well funded and has many needs. There are countless projects that could make an impact for the children but, due to time and financial constraints, we felt the workshop was the most practical, useful, and realistic project to focus our efforts on. To pay for the workshop we will host a fundraiser party at a popular hostel in Cuzco and reach out to friends and family back home for donations. With your help the kids of Azul Wasi orphanage will have a workshop, new shoes, and matching t-shirts. If this project goes well, we even hope to throw the kids a small party to christen the workshop.

Additional Info

Special thanks go out to the owners of Wild Rover Hostel for their financial contribution toward buying all of the kids t-shirts and to Dror and the whole gang at Loki Hostel for organizing and hosting a fundraiser for the orphanage. Thanks guys for all your support!!
